Ava
Ava gave us a little cause for concern today. Her heart rate kept going over 200 and she just seemed lethargic. They had already done blood work on her when we got down there and were going to use a cathater to get a urine sample and they were going to x-ray her stomach. Her stomach felt distended to them, but she provided a diaper that proved she had cleaned much of that out. Her CBC came back normal, but the first x-ray was not completely normal. However when they examined her she looked good. Yet just to be safe they decided to suspend her feeding until they did another x-ray in three hours. To keep her from feeling bad they decided they needed to hook up an IV. Problem was with all of the other sticks, she was out of veins, so they had to put it in her head. You can see the tape holding it in place in this picture. Obviously it didn't hurt her as much as it upset her mother. Mom cried, Ava didn't!
The second X-ray looked good and they resumed her feedings. With three premature babies they are going to make sure we always have a little excitement.
